Insist on Justice and Accountability in Disabled Veteran Assault Case

Veterans vs. Derry Township

Standing for Justice, Accountability, and Veteran Rights

Why this petition matters

Our family has suffered due to an injustice that we can no longer ignore. Jason R. Todd, a retired CW3 U.S. Army veteran and a beloved member of our family, was violently assaulted on September 26, 2023, in Derry Township. This assault left him with permanent disabilities, including a traumatic brain injury (TBI). Yet, the response from the very law enforcement meant to serve and protect was deficient and disappointing.

Undefeated Personal Injury & Accident Lawyers in Nevada

Shockingly, Derry Township failed to effectively protect Jason’s rights. The inept handling of the case and a lack of proper investigation into the charge against the perpetrator represent clear civil rights violations.

The impact has been devastating. The assault has resulted in financial losses due to medical expenses and the inability to work. It has inflicted emotional trauma on our family, and threats to our livelihood continue.

For Jason, a veteran who served to uphold our freedoms, such negligence at the hands of the law enforcement body and township that should also protect our rights is deeply appalling. The law enforcement’s lukewarm response makes it clear that the tenets of safety, equality, and humane treatment were not honored.

We, therefore, urge all empathetic citizens to make their voices heard and demand immediate action. It is our collective duty to scrutinize Derry Township for its dismal failing in protecting the rights of a disabled veteran. Let us stand united in finding justice for Jason.
